LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet has approved Rs2.88 billion for the expansion of Wagah border check-post.
A supplementary grant will be provided out of the current expenditure. The Home Department will transfer the amount to the account of the Lahore deputy commissioner, who will send it to the Pakistan Rangers Headquarters (Punjab) after completing all legal procedures.
According to the documents, a theme park will also be built at the Wagah border, which would feature a 3D monument map of Pakistan and depict the migration journey at a cost of Rs170 million. Construction of a museum has been approved in which an “Azadi and Rangers” museum and a “Cultural Museum of Pakistan” will be built at a cost of Rs100m. Wagah stadium design, consultancy and supervision will cost Rs91m. The expansion will be completed before August 14, 2024.
