Director Johan Renck is known for pushing boundaries and eliciting unexpected performances from his actors. His latest project, the Netflix sci-fi film Spaceman, sees him team up with comedy icon Adam

Sandler for a journey unlike any either has embarked on before.

Based on Jaroslav Kalfař's novel Spaceman of Bohemia, the film follows astronaut Jakub (Sandler) on a solitary mission to the edge of the solar system. As he grapples with isolation and the potential failure of his mission, he also faces the possibility of returning to a changed life on Earth.

Renck, whose previous credits include critically acclaimed series like Chernobyland Breaking Bad, expressed his excitement about working with Sandler in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "I love Adam," he declared. "He's the best human being on the planet. He's a tremendous actor, formidable and amazing."

However, Renck's vision for Spacemangoes beyond simply showcasing Sandler's comedic talents. He aims to tap into a different side of the actor, one that audiences may not be familiar with.

"I really wanted to have a performance from him that had nothing to do with the Adam Sandler we all know," Renck explained. "I don't think people understand how [although] he may come across as funny and sweet and all that, he's very intelligent, really smart, profound."

Spacemanpromises to be a departure from both Renck and Sandler's usual stylistic choices. Early glimpses of the movie through trailers and promotional materials hint at a visually stunning experience.

Spaceman is set to launch on Netflix on March 1, 2024, promising a captivating journey for viewers seeking a unique blend of science fiction, drama, and powerful performances.
