Inadequate means of travel, especially for women, is one of the major problems in Karachi. Women’s compartments in public and private buses are relatively small. Moreover, the small number of buses means women have to wait longer at bus stops where they face an unfriendly environment.
Therefore, they often end up spending large amounts of their wages on taxis or rickshaws. We need a bus system that women can use separately. If that is not possible, then at least the seats reserved for women should be increased.
