The main purpose of student unions was to solve the problems of the students at the university level and to build political awareness among students. In 1984, student unions were banned. I think this is due to the fear of those in power at the time that student unions might win public support and undermine their rule.
The right to form associations and unions is protected by the constitution and also international humanitarian law. I believe we should fully restore student unions as they can be an asset to the country.
