With young voters now comprising around 44 per cent of registered voters, a substantial increase from 2018, their potential impact on the polls is undeniable. With their potent presence on social media, young people could play a big role in the electoral landscape. However, concerns regarding the potential misuse of online platforms for disseminating misinformation and manipulating this influential demographic are valid and necessitate proactive measures.

Beyond media-driven awareness campaigns, educational institutions must shoulder their responsibility in nurturing civic engagement amongst young adults. Integrating discussions on current affairs and political processes into their curriculum can equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become active and informed citizens. Ultimately, ensuring robust young-voter participation in the upcoming elections demands a multifaceted approach. Collaborative efforts encompassing media outreach, educational initiatives, and youth-centric engagement strategies will be pivotal in harnessing the power of this demographic segment and fostering a more vibrant, representative democracy in Pakistan.
