ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said if the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the inquiry commission to probe the Panama Leaks issue was not worked out in consultation with the opposition, the commission’s decision would not be acceptable.
He said that he had not seen the text of the letter written by the government to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and he could say nothing in this respect as it was not known to him if the government had sent a letter or otherwise.
The government should work out the Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the commission on the Panama Leaks in consultation with the opposition. The text of the letter written by the government to CJP had not come before them. It was not known whether the letter had been written to the CJP or otherwise. The government should settle the ToRs in consultation with the opposition. It would be premature to talk about the letter on the commission, he said, while talking to media men here on Saturday.
He said that the media’s role was very vital in the development of the country. The media had an equal share in national development. “You should present things in a positive manner before the people,” he said.
He went on to say that the Sindh government performed better in the agriculture sector. It was endeavouring to take better steps, he added. He said a ban had been slapped on paddy growing in certain areas and if paddy was grown despite the ban, action would be taken, he warned.
