Justice lost

This refers to the letter ‘Vicious cycle’ (January 12, 2024) by M Akram Niazi. The writer’s criticism of tainted rulers is not correct as such leaders are considered ‘sadiq’ and ‘ameen’ by our courts because they are now allowed to seek public office again. Squandering of resources for personal gain is not treated as a serious crime in our society.

Nawaz Sharif was indicted by a court for corruption charges after a lengthy trial and plethora of evidence. After almost five years, another court appears to have cleared all his corruption cases, making him innocent. In a democratic country, the courts are the last hope for justice but not in our republic. Can an ordinary person keep alive any hope for justice in this country?
