Elites vs majority

The Senate has passed a series of resolutions calling for the February 8 elections to be postponed. Some of the senators appear to have taken the mandate of the people and the prestige of the upper house for granted. The majority of people find themselves fed up with this version of democracy. True democracy and democratic spirit is sorely missing from the actions and words of the ruling elite.

The senators demanding a delay in the elections and even those who oppose this move seem motivated largely by personal and party interests. Why don’t they move resolutions to reduce exorbitant perks and privileges? Why do they not present resolutions to tax the enormous untaxed wealth in our country? Why don’t they pass resolutions for taking action against hoarders, profiteers and different businesses cartels who despite a reduction in oil prices continue to charge high prices? The elected lot appears to be working contrary to its purpose, against the interests of the majority.
