Two men lost their lives as unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car and a rickshaw in distinct incidents in Liaquatabad and Suparco Road.
In the first incident, a man identified as 42-year-old Shakeel Shaikh was fatally shot when unknown assailants fired at a car on Liaquatabad underpass in District Central. Rescuers transported the victim to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Initial investigation revealed that Shaikh, an accountant at a private company, fell victim to the attackers on a motorcycle. The incident did not appeared to be a result of resistance during a mugging attempt, as no valuables were reported missing.
In a separate incident on Suparco Road, a rickshaw driver, 41-year-old Ghulam Yasin, son of Pir Buksh, was shot dead by unknown assailants on a motorcycle. The victim, originally from Bhawalpur, resided in a slum area in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and was a father of three children.
Family members claimed that despite immediate alerts to Police Helpline 15, local police, and ambulance services, the response was delayed. Witnesses alleged that the victim was killed during a mugging attempt, while the police remained uncertain about the motive — whether personal enmity or a robbery. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
