Peshawar, Lahore, and Islamabad have been blanketed under a thick layer of smog, creating several challenges for local businesses, commuters, and residents. Reduced visibility on the roads has led to an increase in traffic accidents and delays in transportation. The airline industry’s delays and cancellations have affected travel, both domestically and internationally. Smog has also caused disruptions to schools and prompted concerns about people’s health due to the poor air quality.
As individuals, we should drive cautiously during foggy weather, use headlights, and stay updated on weather conditions. We must also check on our neighbours regularly, follow health guidelines, and build a supportive community. It is recommended that the government give priority to efficient traffic management, allocate funds for innovative weather technologies, and launch public awareness programmes about how people can cope with the smog. To ensure a coordinated response that maintains public safety as the top priority, cooperation between local and federal authorities is essential.
