ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the summary for the appointment of former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general (DG) Mohsin Butt as additional FIA DG.
The caretaker government had sent a summary in this regard but the chief election commissioner (CEC) rejected the summary.
Mohsin Butt had retired as DG FIA on December 31, 2023. A summary for his appointment as additional FIA DG for three months was sent to ECP after approval from the government. There was a proposal to create a new post for Mohsin Butt. After the rejection of the summary, the Interior Ministry will send a new summary to Establishment Division for appointing a new FIA DG. The Establishment Division will take approval from the Federal Cabinet for the appointment of a new DG.
