Power crisis

Rapid demand growth, transmission losses due to outdated infrastructure, power theft, and seasonal reduction in the availability of hydropower have led to a shortage of power and frequent loadshedding.

An unaffordable energy mix, high circular debt in the energy sector, lack of political consensus, poor economic growth, and energy theft also contribute to the problem. The government has to look into these issues on an urgent basis.
