Gendered abuse

Domestic violence is one of the most concerning problems in Pakistan, contributing to the country’s global reputation for human rights violations and the persecution of women. Underprivileged women are disproportionately affected by this problem.

Sadly, many of the perpetrators of this abuse, and other forms of gendered abuse and violence like child marriages and sexual assault, are often not brought to justice, particularly when the perpetrator is a spouse, father or other male relative. Although we have laws criminalizing gendered violence and abuse, we are struggling to implement them. There is also a reluctance among many citizens to speak out about this issue. We need to put an end to this problem and help make Pakistan a safe country for women.
