The SHC's ruling earlier this month directing the education secretary to submit details about school furniture and what steps were taken to ensure its provision of furniture to those schools where it was lacking. These orders signal a positive shift for a brighter future. Unfortunately, many of our schools lack basic facilities – including teachers and proper buildings and furniture. Especially concerning is the absence of electricity, washrooms, and drinking water in all schools.
These conditions not only affect the quality of education, but also the health and dignity of the students and teachers. The SHC’s ruling is a welcome change that reflects a comprehensive approach to the multifaceted challenge of education in Sindh.
