According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), over an estimated 2200 people have drowned crossing the Mediterranean to enter Europe this year. Migration is a global issue and many people are putting their lives at risk for several reasons, including to find a good job and improve their quality of life.
Countries, especially in the developing world, need to create more and better opportunities for their citizens so that they do not have to put their lives at risk to get to other countries.
