Polls scepticism

This letter refers to the editorial ‘Uncertainty no more’ (December 19, 2023), which argues that, following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the delimitation process, there is a clear path to elections in February 2024. Contrary to the editorial’s view, there is still a lot scepticism about these upcoming elections due to a perceived lack of electoral transparency and level playing field for the contesting parties. The most popular party is finding it difficult to campaign.

If free and fair polls are not held in February 2024 and old, failed leaders are imposed on the people, it will fuel instability. The outlook really looks gloomy while disillusionment and anxiety is writ large on the faces of the people under the seemingly unending miserable state of national affairs.
