This refers to the letters, ‘The Christian community’ (April 15) by Mahmud Ahmad Akhtar and ‘Discrimination’ (April 15) by Prof W B Gill. Highlighting the quality performance of Christians, the former says: “Let us look-after our minorities”, while Prof Gill has disclosed that a private school in Rawalpindi has banned admission of Christian students. Minorities in Pakistan do not need to be ‘looked after’. They deserve equal treatment in accordance with their talent and intelligence. This is in the best interest of Pakistan.
Survival of states where obscurantism predominates is impossible in the 21st century. The Middle East stands out as the most prominent example of this phenomenon.
