Twenty-four-year-old Hameeda was seriously wounded after being hit by a bullet in an alleged encounter between suspected robbers and police’s Shaheen Force on Monday night. She was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The woman along with her son and husband was travelling on a motorcycle when the encounter took place. Police said that she was hit during the crossfire. Two suspects, one of them in an injured condition, were also arrested.
The woman’s husband, Rafiq, accused police personnel of shooting his wife, after which the Bilal Colony police registered a murder case against two constables Rohan Saeed and Ali Raza.
The funeral for the deceased was held in New Karachi’s Sector 5, which was attended by large number of people. Later, she was laid to rest in a local graveyard amid tears and sobs. According to police, two suspects were trying to flee after robbing two citizens, Junaid and Faizan, who informed police personnel on patrolling in the area about the incident. The personnel chased the suspects and that lead to an exchange of fire between them.
