LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) Quaid and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday the country was facing the worst situation of its history, currently.
“People have lost all their earnings due to inflation. Now is time to change the scenario and start the journey of development from where it was stopped,” he said while addressing the 7th meeting of the PMLN parliamentary board on Monday.
Nawaz said the country and nation were in a lot of trouble. He said if Allah Almighty gave the future government to the PMLN, the party would work for the country and the nation. “We love the country and the nation the most,” he added.
Former premier said the nation wanted to know what happened in 2018 elections, after which the government was changed.
Earlier, the seventh session of the PMLN parliamentary board interviewed candidates from Multan division for party tickets here on Monday, while party supremo Nawaz Sharif met candidates separately also.
During candidates’ interviews, Nawaz was accompanied by PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif, Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Rana Sanaullah and other party leaders.
Talking to candidates, Nawaz said at present the country’s economy was in a very bad state, and to develop the country “we will have to get out of our own self for which there should be no hesitation”.
“Our country has gone too far back. We should realise this. May Allah protect Pakistan. This country has a unique position in the world. We should regret that we are currently among the lowest countries in the world,” he said, adding “we are even importing the smallest things”.
During the past week, the PMLN parliamentary board has considered names of party candidates from Sargodha division, Rawalpindi district, Hazara, Malakand division, Balochistan province, Dera Ghazi Khan, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal.
