LeBron James is "super excited" to see his eldest son Bronny James make his USC Basketball debut on Sunday, nearly five months after having a heart attack during practice.

Bronny, 19, is scheduled to participate in the University of Southern California's game on Sunday after missing the team's first eight games of the season.

The NBA legend's kid was hospitalised for two days in late July after having cardiac arrest during practice, a terrifying scene that made headlines throughout the sports world for days.

"It's a big milestone for our family, for sure," James, 38, told reporters after Thursday night’s Los Angeles Lakers win over the New Orleans Pelicans. "It's another step for him on his journey in his basketball career.”

The four-time NBA Champion said he’s “looking forward to that for sure.”

“Super excited for that moment,” James added.

The four-time NBA MVP hasn't hidden his delight in seeing his son's career take off. James told Spectrum SportsNet that the day Bronny graduated from high school and committed to the USC men's basketball programme was "one of the best days of my life."

"First of all, congratulations to Bronny on his decision he made. I'm super proud of him, our family is proud of him," James said. "For me personally, it's even more special to me because it's the first time someone out of my family to go to college. Obviously, I didn't go to college."
