Separate spaces to be provided for women in 77 mosques run by Auqaf dept

The Sindh government has decided to allocate separate spaces for women at all the mosques administered by the provincial Auqaf department.

The decision to this effect was taken by Sindh Caretaker Minister for Law and Auqaf Mohammad Omar Soomro as he chaired a meeting with officials of the Auqaf Department on Friday.

Auqaf Secretary Munwar Mahesar, additional secretary and other officials attended the meeting, in which the law and Auqaf minister was briefed on the registration of mosques and schools.

The caretaker minister directed the Auqaf secretary to designate separate areas for women's prayers in 77 mosques of the department. He also instructed them to issue a circular and launch an awareness campaign in English, Urdu, Sindhi, and Gujarati regarding this initiative. Soomro emphasised the need for expediting the process of gathering data for all registered and unregistered mosques in Sindh.
