Budget digitization: Talks with IMF team begin

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Shamshad Akthar on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Technical Assistance Mission on digitising the budget process.

The IMF Technical Assistance Mission was led by Fazeer Rahim and Sybi Hida, senior economists from the Public Financial Management Division, accompanied by the IMF representative in Pakistan Esther Pérez Ruiz.

In the meeting at the Finance Division, Dr Shamshad underscored the need to tailor the recommendations to the specific needs of the ministry to improve effectiveness of budget making process through digitisation. The IMF team assured the ministry to propose implementable solutions.

In a separate statement, it was announced that Dr Shamshad was honoured with the award of the ‘Most Influential Woman in Islamic Business and Finance 2023’ at the 5th Annual WOMANi event held in Dubai.

Dr Shamshad’s outstanding contributions to the field were recognized, especially her unwavering commitment and groundbreaking efforts in advancing Islamic finance and economics globally.
