ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday recommended the appointment of Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi as permanent Chief Justice of Sindh High Court (SHC).
Meeting of JCP was held here in the Supreme Court, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa, being the Chairman of the Commission. The meeting deliberated over the appointment of Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi as permanent Chief Justice of SHC.
Later on, the Commission unanimously recommended the appointment of Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi as SHC Chief Justice respectively and referred the matter to Parliamentary Committee on appointment of judges for final approval.
Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi was performing his functions as acting chief justice of SHC after the elevation of former SHC acting chief justice Irfan Saadat Khan as judge of the Supreme Court.
