Pakistan has seen many of its politicians facing different corruption cases without any concrete result for decades. These cases tend to drag on and on, with the accused politicians appearing in different courts and often staying out of prison on bail or fleeing the country, at a huge cost to the taxpayer. The accused eventually returns to public office and then another politician is caught in the same whirlpool. The misuse of legal processes for political motives can have significant consequences for the judicial system, public resources, and the overall functioning of a democratic society.

Rule of law is a fundamental principle of democratic societies. Political interference in legal processes weakens this foundation and can lead to a breakdown of the rule of law. To address this issue, there is a need for institutional reforms to strengthen the independence of the judiciary and safeguard it from political pressure. Civil society organizations and citizens can play a vital role in monitoring and raising awareness about the misuse of legal processes for political motives.
