Junior hockey team’s training assessed closely

LAHORE: The performance, training and fitness level of each player during the national junior hockey camp is being closely monitored not only by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) but also by the Sports Board Punjab.

The selected lot of the junior probable are preparing at the National Hockey Stadium for the upcoming major hockey tournaments and on Monday, the Adviser to Interim Punjab Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz and Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail assessed the ongoing camp. The PHF General Secretary Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali, Olympians Asif Bajwa and Kh Junaid, Dutch Coach Roelant Oltmans, and other officials also inspected the situation.

It should be noted that the training camp under the guidance Oltmans, serves as a crucial preparation phase for the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup, in Kuala Lumpur from January 5 to 17, 2024.

The Adviser to CM Punjab Wahab urged the young players to approach the training camp with unwavering dedication and passion, ensuring complete readiness for the main event.

DG Sports Punjab Dr Asif emphasised confidence in the national team’s ability to showcase remarkable performance at the prestigious event. “Our players possess immense talent, and we are optimistic that our young squad will deliver impressive results against formidable opponents from various nations,” he remarked. The inspection of the training camp underscores the Punjab government’s unwavering commitment to fostering excellence in hockey.
