I am writing as a young Pakistani citizen deeply saddened and depressed by the current political and socio-economic situation in our country. It seems that over the past 76 years we have become the opposite of what was envisioned. I believe that the upcoming general elections in February 2024 are our last chance to establish a fair and popular constitutional, democratic system. I would like to remind the authorities that they must ensure a truly level playing field, as is being demanded by a number of political parties. Right now, the people are getting the impression that this is not the case.
We are at a critical juncture in our history. Will a genuinely popular parliament emerge in February 2024? The opposite outcome would be a real disaster. My generation is expecting change and reform.
