Says PTI chief supporting son of Goldsmith against a Pakistani in London polls
DHIRKOT: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rasheed on Tuesday said that if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would point a finger at the children of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, questions would be raised about Imran’s three children, not two.
Addressing a workers’ convention here, the minister urged the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to vote for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates to get rid of the problems being faced by them.
The PML-N, under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, is already working for the development of Pakistan and after being voted to power would bring the Valley at par with the rest of the country, he said
The minister said being in power at the Centre, only the PML-N could launch development projects in AJK and bring prosperity on this side of the Kohala Bridge. He criticised Imran Khan for supporting the son of Goldsmith against Sadiq Khan, a Pakistani, in the local bodies elections of the United Kingdom. “How could a person who did not support a Pakistani abroad seek votes for his party in the country?” he questioned. Imran, he said, did not have any right to ask the Kashmiris as well as Pakistanis to vote for him.
Pervaiz Rasheed said Nawaz Sharif had donated land in Lahore for the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital and even waived tax on import of machinery for the hospital. The prime minister had paid taxes for his trust hospital.
He said Dhirkot is the land of Sufi saints. It is very unfortunate that people do not pursue principles of their fathers despite having proximity to sufi saints’ abode. A liar and disobedient to father was not suitable for getting Kashmiris’ votes. He said he will keep visiting Azad Jammu and Kashmir for purging it from tyranny and was even ready to visit Dhirkot seven times.
He said Imran has apparently no business or income sources but has been leading a lavish life whereas the family Nawaz Sharif has been doing business since 1936. Their business empire was nationalised by the late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1971, he added.
He said it seems that the people of Dhirkot have thronged the venue of public meeting to watch Dr Asif Kirmani. He said there were scores of cancer hospitals in the country and Imran Khan’s hospital was not an exception. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was constructing hospitals in various areas of the country.
He alleged that Imran Khan had squandered over $30 million donations of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) in various offshore companies in 2010. The audit report does not mention this squandered money.
Imran does not bother to clear himself from the allegations but we will keep asking him, he added. The PML-N is a servant of the people and seeks to serve the people, the minister added.
