The trailer of the first film in a new Potter-borne trilogy has been released online and offers fans a lot to look forward to in this new era of magic and wizards. Based on J.K. Rowling’s 2001 novel of the same name, the film sees Eddie Redmayne take on the role of magizoologist Newton Scamander aka Newt – Professor Dumbledore’s much-adored student who has been expelled from Hogwarts for reasons unknown but ones that have beastly connections.
Colin Farrell, who has starred in films like Winter’s Tale and Saving Mr. Banks, returns on screen as wizard Percival Graves on the lookout for Newt and witch Porpentina Goldstein. Fantastic Beasts is set in 1920s New York and seems to delve not only into themes of magic and witchcraft but also politics – one witnesses all sorts of magic unraveling at the Ministry of Magic and the Congress and there’s a glimpse of chaotic campaign rallying for a person named Shaw in the trailer.
With a suitcase full of mystery, poky little nifflers and a mysterious-looking Redmayne, Fantastic Beasts sure looks interesting for fans of the Potter series. The film is slated for a November 18 release.
