LAHORE: Heavy rain badly affected the opening day of the seventh and final round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on Monday.

In all four games, the first day’s play could not be played except for a few overs in matches at Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan. In the match between Lahore Whites and Faisalabad at Pindi

Cricket Stadium, the table topper side Faisalabad, won the toss and put Lahore Whites to bat, who scored 23 runs without loss in 6.2 overs. Imran Dogar 19 and Abid Ali was not out for two.

The first day FATA and Peshawar’s game at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium saw no single ball being bowled. On the first day Multan and Rawalpindi’s contest at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, only 6.5 overs could be played. Multan won the toss put Rawalpindi into bat, who scored 18 runs without loss.

The Karachi Whites and Lahore Blues game at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore saw the home team winning the toss and electing to field. Karachi Whites who scored 21 runs in 9 overs and lost 5 wickets. Asad Shafiq scored 13 runs with the help of three fours was the main scorer.

Saeem Ayub, Umeer bin Yousaf and Imad Alam got out without scoring any runs. Ali Shafiq has taken three wickets to put the opposition under the pump.
