Gilmore Girls revival: Melissa McCarthy to reprise her role

Fans of the hit TV show, Gilmore Girls, know that years before Melissa McCarthy made it big as a Hollywood super star, she starred on the show as Chef Sookie St. James for the seven years that it existed. Fans of the hit TV show, Gilmore Girls, know that years before Melissa McCarthy made it big as a Hollywood super star, she starred on the show as Chef Sookie St. James for the seven years that it existed. As the show gears up to return next year on Netflix, only one question remained: Will McCarthy make room for the show now that she’s hit big time? And the answer, after all these months, is yes.

Making an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show on Friday, the actress confirmed the news and put all other rumours to rest. Talking to Ellen, she noted: “There has something I’ve been asked about so, so many times, and it hasn’t worked out. They’re making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls, which is a show that was near and dear to my heart for four years, and we could not get those schedules to work. There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I’m going to go back and do it, and I am so excited! They’re going to be amazing.”

This means every single cast member of the show will be part of the revival with one exception: Edward Herrmann, who essayed the role of family patriarch Richard Gilmore and passed away in December 2014. Entertainment Weekly also earned an exclusive look while the show is being shot and by the pictures, we can honestly say, this is one reunion worth waiting for.
