The prayer said before the finals

Now I lay me

Down to study

I pray the Lord

I won’t go nutty

If I should fail to

Learn this junk

I pray the Lord

I do not flunk

But if I do

Don’t pity me at all

Just lay my bones

In the study hall

Tell my prof

I did my best

Then pile my

Books upon my chest

Now I lay me

Down to rest

And pray I pass

Tomorrow’s test

If I should die

Before I wake

That’s one less test

I’ll have to take

English is a

stupid language

Let’s face it…English is a stupid language.

There is no egg in the eggplant, and neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.

English muffins were not invented in England, and French fries were not invented in France.

We sometimes take English for granted.

But if we examine its paradoxes, we find that quicksand takes you down slowly. Boxing rings are square.

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language where a house can burn up as it burns down.
