It’s become common to hear about actors turning down roles that make the one, who signed up for it, an overnight success. Envy much or just media’s curiosity? We can’t say but according to Filmfare, Fawad Khan’s role in Kapoor & Sons went through the same drill.

The role, which can most definitely be called a game changer for Fawad in Bollywood, was initially offered to three B-town purists - Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur - who is perhaps on his way to become the next Johnny Walker of Bollywood as he is almost always a drunkard in films. Clearly, all three of them rejected the offer for reasons unknown. Given the fact that it required them to play a homosexual and homosexuality is still a controversial subject and a taboo in South Asia, it could be a reason.

But what was their loss, is Fawad’s gain for Kapoor & Sons has been minting money at the box office left, right and centre and has quickly become the ‘highest overseas grosser of 2016’. And it seems collaborating on this project has given Fawad a special place in K Jo’s heart as the actor will be seen playing an important role in the coming of age romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Rumours also suggest that K Jo might just pair him with current sensation Deepika Padukone for a project. Things are only about to get interesting for Fawad and his fans.
