After making its debut last year, the Lahore Music Meet is returning with its second edition, this April. Scheduled to take place on 2nd and 3rd of April 2016 at the Alhamra Art Center in Lahore, the two-day event brings together a gathering of music enthusiasts, artists, patrons, industry experts and representatives and academics. The idea is to initiate intelligent discourse on music, the issues that hinder its development as well as provide the general public access and the opportunity to learn more.
The Lahore Music Meet team, consisting of founders Natasha Noorani, Zahra Paracha, Hasan Abbas, Noor Habib and creative director Ayesha Haroon, have designed “a series of seminars” on a diverse range of topics that have a correlation to the music world.
These include ‘Scoring for the Big Screen: Soundtracks and Music in Pakistani Cinema’, ‘Audio-Visual Collectives in Pakistan’, ‘The Dissemination of Music in the Digital Age’ and ‘Location our Heritage: Traditional Folk Music in Pakistan’.
Other than engaging conversations, the LMM edition also includes workshops and storytelling sessions with industry stalwarts such as Tina Sani, Mekaal Hasan, Noori brothers Ali Noor and Ali Hamza, Sikander Mufti and Haroon and many other notables.
The event is open to the public and will be headlined by folk legend Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi, the amazing Mai Dhai, Ahsan Bari’s fabulous Sounds of Kolachi and indie-rock band Red Blood Cat, who continue to impress with their originality and musicianship.
