SUKKUR:A complete shutter down strike was observed in Larkana,Kambar-Shahdadkot, Khairpur, Sukkur, Naushehro Feroze, Ghotki, Shikarpur and other parts of the province on Monday.
The protest call was given by the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz(JSQM) on the death anniversary of JSQM leader Maqsood Khan Qureshi, the brother of JSQM Chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi, and Salman Wadhu. Both of them were killed by unknown persons. The protesters pressed the government to arrest murders of their leaders.
Several cities of Larkana, including Kambar-Shahdadkot,Ratodero, Naudero, Bakrani, Badah, Dokri, Miro Khan, Nasirabad, Warah and others remained closed. All business activities were suspended while petrol pumps were also closed.
The JSQM activists, led by Comrade Athar Soomro, Aziz Sheikh, Nadir Solangi, Ghulam Ali Mugheri, Bashir Jatoi and others staged a protest, burnt tyres and shouted slogans in supporttheir demands and called for justice.
Speaking on the occasion,they said the UNand international community should take notice of the killing of innocent workers, adding that a peaceful protest hadconveyed a positive message to the governmentthat traders and business community stoodwith the martyrs. During the protest, heavy contingents of police and Rangers were deployed at different roads.
