Mandviwalla elected Saarc Law president

KARACHI: Barrister Mehmood Mandviwalla has been elected President of the South Asian Association for Regional Corporation (Saarc) Law. Mandviwalla was unanimously elected as the next president of Saarc Law during 13th Saarc Law Conference and 10th Chief Justices Conference in Nepal’s capital Katmandu.

He would assume responsibilities for two years. The post is usually assigned to chief justices of member countries but this is the first time that a senior lawyer has been elected as president of the body.

Mandviwalla said he was grateful to those who had expressed confidence in him. He further said there was a need to harmonise our national laws and works for promotion of regional policies and laws where the issues were of regional nature. Mandviwalla said he would work with the international and regional organisations and promote partnership.
