A few days ago, a speeding passenger van rammed into my car at a signal crossing near Sector I/8 at 8.45am, completely damaging the back door of my car. I am a senior citizen and therefore could not afford to get into a needless argument with the van driver.
After giving way to traffic, I asked the van driver to wait at the roadside and dialled the rescue department’s number: 1915. But the driver sped away as soon as I dialled rang the number. To my dismay, no one responded to my call even though I waited for a long time. Then I rang up Rescue 15, but, again to no avail. Finally, the I-9 police station called me to their end to lodge a complaint which I ultimately did. But it is unfortunate that no action has been taken against the van driver so far. If this is the performance of the police in the federal capital, then one can imagine the situation in the rest of the country. The Islamabad IG is requested to look into this matter and take action against the van driver.
