Like last year, this year will see a number of comedies including Bachaana, Chupan Chupai and Lahore Se Agey hitting the big screen but amidst all possible laugh riots will be another local production, 48 Hours, giving audiences a much-needed dose of serious cinema. The first official trailer of the film is out and it seems like an interesting take on a real-life incident.

The story is based on a true incident which took place back in November 2014 involving one of Pakistan’s oldest brokerage firms KASB Securities. The trailer shows a company and a team’s struggle to survive amidst a major financial crisis and how “one call changes everything”. Real stakeholders give their two cents on what sort of emotional rollercoaster ride they were on when they were actually in the situation and that sets the backdrop of this fictional adaptation. While there are no notable stars in the film, it adds to the diversity of genres that Pakistani filmmakers are experimenting with, making it the first corporate thriller to come from the new wave of cinema.

Produced by Da Rang Productions, the film’s trailer looks promising but there is no announcement on the release date as of now.
