The Sindh chief minister approved on Wednesday the proposal of outsourcing the motor vehicle inspection and certification system.
Murad Ali Shah, during a meeting on transport issues, was told that unfit, old and defective vehicles were plying the roads across the province and the government’s inspection system did not meet the required standards.
The chief minister was further informed that a SIM would be installed in the number plate of vehicle connected with the main data of motor vehicle registration wing of excise and taxation department.
The scanning of the SIM by police, traffic police or any other force will disclose the complete data of the vehicle including ownership, the tax paid, the inspection carried out etc.
Shah was informed that some companies had expressed their interest in the project.
The chief minister directed transport minister Nasir Shah to complete the formalities for outsourcing the system.
Additional chief secretary (development) M Waseem, transport secretary Taha Farooqui, and Mass Transit Authority director general Syed Asadullah Shah also attended the meeting.
