PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration on Sunday arrested 91 persons, including three bridegrooms, for violating the government orders on gathering to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
The administration arrested three grooms in different areas from the outskirts of the provincial metropolis for arranging walima receptions for a large number of people.
The administration has warned of strict action against people for arranging such gatherings in violation of the government ban.
Also, the administration arrested 88 shopkeepers during the crackdown against violation of orders.
The arrested persons included owners of snooker clubs, fitness clubs, restaurants and shopkeepers.
It is worth mentioning here that bazaars in most areas in Peshawar remained closed.
However, people on the outskirts were seen not following the orders which could cause problems. Similarly, the transporters in some areas, including those on the Bara Road defied the official orders.
It was observed that most of the people were not taking the issue seriously as one could find people sitting in groups on streets and at public places.
