Directives issued to Rangers for tightening security
Updated at: 1730 PST, Thursday, November 26, 2009
KARACHI: A meeting of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) was held here on Thursday with its Director General Liaquat Ali in the chair.

The meeting was also attended by Home Secretary Sindh Arif Ahmed Khan, CCPO Karachi Police Waseem Ahmed, Deputy Director General Sindh Rangers, DIGs of all three zones and SSP security and high officials of rangers.

It reviewed security measures in order to ensure law and order situation on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. DG Rangers directed officials to take foolproof security measures across the province, particularly around Eidgahs, mosques, Imambargahs, shopping centers, sacrificial animal markets and public places.

He said rangers and police would hold joint flag march and Pakistan Ranger Sindh and other law enforcement agencies would remain on high alert in these days.

The organizations will not be allowed to collect hides of sacrificial animals on Eid-ul-Azha without NOC by DCO and no one could be allowed to collect hides from other sites through any pressure.

He said hide collection points would be supervised. DG Rangers Sindh asked law enforcement agencies to ensure that no one showed off licensed or illegal arms. Stern action would be taken against law violators, he warned.

Snap checking and mobile & motorcycle patrolling have been accelerated, while law enforcement agencies put on high alert at all entrance and exit points, railway stations and bus terminals in Karachi.
