RAWALPINDI: All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Tuesday again urged the government to exempt CNG filing Station from closure for two days in a week and not to raise CNG price to Rs 59 per kilogram from January 2010, else they would observe indefinite strike.
Chairman APCNGA, Ghiyas Paracha addressing a press conference here also demanded the government to announce the CNG policy aimed at supplying uninterrupted natural Gas to all the 2300 filing station on priority, otherwise the industry would go on complete and indefinite strike in Punjab and NWFP from November 15.
The substantial difference between the CNG and Patrol prices should be maintained, as agreed by the government in the past, he added.
Ghiyas said the CNG dealers observed a successful twenty four hours token strike from Jhelum to Attock including Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday. Another token strike would be observed on November 12 in Lahore and Sargodha.
"If the Government still does not invite us for talks, then APCNGA would continue its protest in Multan and Bahawalpur on November 13," he said.
He claimed that today's strike was successful as 691 CNG stations out of 697 supported APCNGA. Only six CNG Stations owned by patrolling companies did not join the strike such as Shell and Caltex, he added.
Ghiyas asked the CNG users to understand CNG dealers' problem and persuade the government to revert its decision for closing CNG Stations for two days each week.
He was of the view that if CNG was sold at Rs 59 per KG then there would be negligible difference between the prices of patrol and CNG.
He also claimed the there was no gas crisis in the country, and it was illegal to close CNG stations and added the CNG Industry only uses 6% of the entire gas supply. |
