13 militants killed, in S Waziristan operation

  WANA: At least 13 militants were killed, one security man martyred during the South Waziristan operation, while the mass exodus from the affected areas continued and some ten thousand families have thus far been shifted to safe places, according to the Frontier government.

According to political officials, six extremists were killed; many sustained injuries, whereas three of their bases destroyed in air strikes in three areas of South Waziristan.

Political officials said that the security forces were facing stiff resistance from the militants at Shahwangi and Khesora areas of South Waziristan, while seven militants were killed at Nawazkot, Shahwangi and Khesora by the security forces during operation besides several injured.

One security man was also martyred in action. At least 15 hideouts of the militants were destroyed.

Yesterday, 12 militants were killed and 8 wounded in security forces pounding the areas at Karkanar and Kotki, thus making the total militants dead during two days to 25.

Meanwhile, security forces have taken over the control of Spinzai and Ghazai areas.

On the other hand, thousands of families have shifted to Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan en-route north Waziristan due to operation in their areas.

Frontier government said that ten thousand families have thus far shifted to safer places.

Provincial Information Minister, Iftikhar Hussain said that the owners and all the property dealers have been strictly warned to take all cares of ascertaining the identities while renting out their houses, otherwise, actions could be taken against them.

300 IDP families have arrived in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan – 200 families have taken refuge in various houses, whereas 100 other families are still waiting for aid and shelter under the naked sky, the sources added.
