KARACHI: The power supply began to be restored in Karachi; however, the electricity is still absent in some areas of Karachi, Geo News reported Thursday.
The spells of power outages are still in progress in various areas.
Wapda started partially supplying the power to the Karachi Electric supply Company (KESC) on Wednesday afternoon. According to the KESC officials, the company is getting initially 200 Megawatts from Wapda, adding the KESC is getting 600 Megawatts from its sources and 200 Megawatts from IPPs.
Thus, 1000 Megawatts of electricity is available for Karachi and the demand is exceeding 2000 Megawatts.
The power could not be restored to Saddar Old City, Garden, Jubilee, Ranchore Lines, Ramswami and other areas until now since Wednesday evening. And the areas, where power supply has been restored, are facing intermittently power outages.
The KESC officials said efforts are afoot to meet the power demand in Karachi; however, no timeframe can be given for the complete power restoration.
It should be noted here that the black-out began on Wednesday evening, and affected almost the entire city, Pakistan's biggest with more than 16 million people, and the country's commercial hub. |
