ISLAMABAD: National Assembly has approved the Industrial Relations Bill 2008, while PML-N staged a walkout against the bill here on Tuesday.
Congratulating the house on passing of the bill, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that removal of anti-laborer laws was part of our agenda.
About PML-N walkout, Premier Gilani said, “We value their point of view. However, PML-N made a hasty decision in this regard.”
Speaking on this occasion, Federal Minister Mian Raza Rabbani said it is clear now who is opposing the anti-laborer and dictatorial powers.
To a question, Rabbani said that 17th amendment and 58-2(b) would too be abolished from the constitution, but added that it could take some time.
Parliamentary Secretary for Food and Agriculture said Prime Minister has directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to start buying the cotton. The official buying of the rice would too commence next week which would help stabilize the prices, he said.
There is no restriction on the movement of floor and wheat within the country, he clarified, adding that Punjab and Sindh have taken such measures which are causing difficulties for NWFP and Balochistan.
Parliamentary food secretary said nine more check-posts were set up to control the flour and wheat smuggling from NWFP to Afghanistan.
Responding to a query, Federal Health Minister Ejaz Jakhrani said that number of polio cases detected this year has increased to 100. Military operation, law and order situation and migration of refugees affected the anti-polio drive, he said. |
