17 killed in suicide attacks and landmine blast in Swat

  SWAT: Two Suicide bomb attacks and a landmine blast killed at least 17 persons including 12 security men and wounded 39 others on Sunday in Matta area near Swat.

Director General ISPR has said 11 security men and three civilians were killed in the incident.

In the attack, a landmine exploded and two cars packed with explosives ploughed into a troop convoy, said Director General ISPR Major General Waheed Arshad. Blue colour Suzuki vans were used in the attack that martyred 12 security men and three civilians.

Three vehicles of the security forces were damaged and 39 security men were wounded including 28 with serious injuries.

The wounded persons have been transferred to Peshawar, Mardan hospitals and CMH Rawalpindi.

According to sources six houses were also destroyed in the incident and residents were killed. People have taken out body of a girl from wreckage of a house in Matta, while three persons were killed when rooftop of a house collapsed near a petrol station.

The firing episode by unidentified gunmen still underway, while security forces helicopters hovering over the area.

After the incident Matta area has been sealed. All roads leading to Matta have been closed at Kanju point.

A suicide bomber had killed 24 people and wounded 29 more the previous day in Miranshah area.
