| Three more massage centres on Taliban hit list |

Islamabad: Three ‘Health Clubs’ are on the hit list of Taliban of the seminaries of Lal Masjid — Jamia Hafsa and Jamia Faridia, reliable sources, quoting an ‘alert call’ from intelligence agencies, told The News.
‘Spa’ — a massage centre and swimming pool is being run as health club in Shaukat Complex in Super Market — ‘Nirvana’ (massage centre and beauty parlour) in House 14, Street-90, G-6/3, and UN Club — established by the United Nation’s Entertainment Office at double road in F-6/1 with diplomatic sanctity - are among the three ‘health clubs’ under threat, the sources maintained.
One of the three targets are being run by an income tax officer of 24 common who, later, got retirement for the department and started his business of massage centre as well as swimming pool, the sources said adding, “The former income tax officer is son-in-law of a top officer of a sensitive force in Gen Zia-ul-Haq regime and who established Jamia Faridia in E-7, claiming the local Taliban will not hit the massage center.”
Meanwhile, paramilitary forces personnel have been deployed around the ‘health clubs’ (massage centres and swimming clubs) for their protection, the sources said.
“Security has been tightened around the Lal Masjid and they have been warned not to challenge the writ of the government”, Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Chaudhary Muhammad Ali told this correspondent.
“We are intensifying security to halt the activities of the Lal Masjid activists”, the DC said and added, “We are boosting the efficiency of our force to combat such incidents”.
“The activists of the Lal Masjid are strictly under surveillance and will be checked and booked if found involved in such activities”, Muhammad Ali said adding, the administrations of the massage centres have been advised to act within the orbit of the law of land.
The local Taliban (male and female) of the Lal Masjid raided a Chinese Massage Center in F-8/3 and kidnapped seven Chinese — six women, one male — and two Pakistani customers on midnight of March 22, alleging that they massage centre was being run as a brothel.
The Lal Masjid administration, later, released six Chinese females — Jiang Ying, Wang Li, Wang Xin, Jiao Ling, Li Bo and Li Hong — and a male, Geg Min, but refused to disclose the identity of the Pakistani customers picked up from the Chinese massage centre with the Chinese people.
The two Pakistani customers were identified as Syed Matiullah Shah and Raqiaz Khan belonging to a religious party.
