| Only PM can order NRO arrests: NAB |

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will wait for specific orders of the prime minister to arrest any of those hit by the NRO, when it expires today, NAB sources said on Friday.
“We have decided to wait for the directions of the prime minister in this regard. Top level deliberations in NAB have concluded that as legally and officially still NAB lies under the control of the prime minister of Pakistan and the orders to place the NAB under the law ministry have no legal value, so we will wait for the proper orders of the chief executive of Pakistan,” the sources say. Spokesman of NAB, Ghazni Khan, when approached by The News, refused to give any comment.
It is worth mentioning here that today, NAB will attain its lost powers to initiate probe or to arrest any politician or parliamentarian as per the legal interpretation of law minister Sindhu. NAB lost these powers after promulgation of NRO on October 5, 2007 which bound it to take permission from an ethics committee of parliament before initiating any such action but PPP never felt the need to even set up any such committee.
