Forces kill several militants in Bajaur

KHAR: Security forces claimed killing several militants during clashes in various areas of Bajaur Agency on Thursday.Official sources said that militants in groups simultaneously attacked the security forces’ checkposts in Sadiqabad, Inayat Killay, Bilalabad and Rehmanabad areas in Khar subdivision and Lagharai, Tarkho, Bar Khalozo, Umaray and Kamar Sar in Mamond tehsil. The militants opened indiscriminate fire on the posts. Reports said that several militants were killed in the clashes while the others fled.
Fire at India oil depot kills 5
JAIPUR: A fire engulfed an oil depot in western India on Thursday, leaving at least five people dead and 25 others feared trapped, an official said. Two huge explosions rocked the oil depot in Sitapura, an industrial area in the western state of Rajasthan, before the fire broke out, district collector Kuldeep Ranka told The Associated Press. Huge flames leaped into the sky. The depot, 10 miles south of the state capital, Jaipur, stores gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel for several state-owned oil companies, Ranka said.
India doesn’t want to destabilise Pakistan: minister
NEW DELHI: Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor said on Thursday India does not wish to destabilise Pakistan in any manner and wants good relations with it. Talking to reporters in Palakkad in Kerala state, he said Pakistan should make efforts to improve the relations which have been under strain since the 26/11 attack. “India does not want to destabilise Pakistan in any manner and wishes to maintain good relations with it,” he said when asked about Islamabad’s concerns that India was trying to destabilise Pakistan.
Khosa’s removal

ISLAMABAD: A constitutional petition was filed on Thursday in the Supreme Court, challenging the removal of former attorney general Sardar Latif Khosa.The petition was filed by Shahid Orakzai under Article 184(3) of the Constitution making former attorney general Sardar Latif Khosa, the law secretary and the Federation as respondents.
UNSC calls meeting on Afghanistan
UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations said the Security Council will hold a special session on the situation in Afghanistan Thursday, and diplomats said the issues of security and Pakistan would be raised. The UN press office said in a statement that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was expected to brief the 15-nation council at the meeting, which takes place at 3:30pm. “It’s a joint effort of trying to find solutions to the security issues we confront not only in Afghanistan, but also elsewhere,” Ban’s spokeswoman Michele Montas told reporters.
