16 wedding guests killed in Mohmand mine blast

GHALLANAI: Sixteen people, including seven members of a family, were killed and four others sustained serious injuries when a vehicle carrying a wedding party hit a landmine on Methai road in Baizai Tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Friday. Sources said the wedding party was on its way to Olai Killay from Gharangy village in Baizai subdivision of the agency to fetch the bride. Official sources said the explosion was caused by an anti-tank mine planted by militants apparently to target security forces’ convoys.

Foreign reporters denied entry to DI Khan

PESHAWAR: The police turned back two foreign reporters, who wanted to enter Dera Ismail Khan to cover the military operation in nearby South Waziristan and meet displaced people. Sources said the reporters, whose identity and nationality could not be ascertained, were not allowed to enter Dera Ismail Khan. Members of the Pakistani and foreign media have been trying to reach Dera Ismail Khan and Tank to be in close proximity to the scene of action in South Waziristan since the launch of the military operation against the Hakimullah Mahsud-led militants on October 17.
15 more terrorists killed in Mohmand

GHALLANAI: Security forces on Friday killed 15 militants and injured 14 others during ongoing operation “Sherdil” in various areas of the Mohmand Agency, official sources said. The sources said security forces had been conducting search operation against the militants in Kuz Chinari, Bedmanai, Ghanam Shah and Ziarat Killay in Lakaro tehsil for the last two days. Fifteen militants were killed and 14 others injured during the operation, they added. The forces also arrested two suspected militants in Ziarat Killay.
Dumper crushes four of family in Pindi

ISLAMABAD: Four members of a family including a teacher of Army Public School, Peshawar, her husband Shahzad Anjum Qureshi and their two kids were killed in a road accident at Islamabad Highway near Shakrial when a heavy dumper turned over their car, killing the couple on the spot while two kids succumbed to their injuries at PIMS hospital, the police said. The third kid is still in critical condition in the hospital, spokesman of the PIMS Dr Waseem Khawaja said.
Four Pakistanis slain in Iran Guard attack
TEHRAN: Four Pakistani citizens were among those killed in the attack on Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards in Sistan-Balochistan province, Fars news agency reported on Friday. “Four Pakistani citizens, who were near the handicraft exhibition, also died in the incident,” Jalal Sayyah, deputy governor of Sistan-Balochistan told Fars. He said investigations revealed: The bomber had crossed into Iran from Pakistan a day before the attack, Sayyah said. “He was trained four months ago in one of (Abdolmalek) Rigi’s bases in Pakistan,” he added. -AFP
Sufi singer Sohrab Faqir dies

KHAIRPUR: Sindh’s great Sufi singer Sohrab Faqir passed away in Talpur Wada town here on Friday. He was suffering from cancer. Faqir had a great command over the Sufi genre of singing. He mainly sung the poetry of Sufi saints Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and Sachal Sarmat. He performed in Germany and other countries and received three international awards.
