US soldier among 15 killed
KABUL: A roadside bomb attack killed one US soldier in Afghanistan, while 14 Taliban were killed in two separate incidents, officials said here on Sunday. “Six armed Taliban were killed,” an Afghan military official said. A separate incident in Uruzgan left eight Taliban dead.
No action against religious seminaries: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said on Sunday that no action was being taken against any Madressah in the federal capital.In a statement issued here, the minster said, action is being taken only against those prayer leaders (Imam Masjid), who do not have Pakistani nationality. He said no person would be allowed to become a prayer leader in any mosque in the country, if he is not a Pakistani national.
PML-N to oppose NRO, says Shahbaz
LONDON: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the PML-N will strongly oppose the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in parliament and will vote against it. He said the NRO passage would, by no means, add to the dignity and honour of parliament. He was delivering a presidential address at a function of the party at South Hall, UK, here on Sunday, which was largely attended by the Pakistani community. The chief minister said Pakistan cannot afford any confrontation at present.
Saifullah vows to oppose NRO

NOWSHERA: PML-Q (Likeminded) chief Salim Saifullah has said the passage of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) will be opposed in parliament. Talking to reporters here on Sunday, he said his group was contacting leaders of other parties to evolve a strategy against the NRO. He said legitimising corruption would be dangerous for the country and the nation. “We appeal to all the members to come clean on the NRO and take a bold step by rejecting the controversial ordinance,” he said. He also opposed the Kerry-Lugar Bill and said it was tantamount to interfering in the affairs of Pakistan and asked the government to use diplomatic channels to find a solution.
Roadside blast rocks Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: An explosive device planted by unidentified militants on the Dera Ismail Khan Road here went off on Sunday. Official sources said the militants had planted the explosive device apparently to target a convoy of security forces heading for the South Waziristan Agency. However, the device exploded before the forces passed through the area.
Terrorist involved in FIA offices attack held
LAHORE: Police arrested a terrorist in connection with the attack on the FIA regional headquarters here on Sunday. Samiullah, 28, had dropped the terrorists in a vehicle outside the FIA headquarters before they launched the attack, a private TV channel reported. The police arrested Samiullah at a check-post near the Campus Bridge and recovered explosives from his possession.
Eight suspects held in Kohat

KOHAT: Police arrested eight suspects, including two Afghan nationals, and recovered arms from their possession during a search operation here on Sunday. Official sources said seven of the suspects were identified as Noor Marjan, Khan Zaman, Naseer Ahmad, Asimuddin, Muzamil, Israruddin and Zarbat Khan. Two Kalashnikov rifles, three rifles, three shotguns, five pistols and hundreds of rounds were also recovered.

According to sources, he is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and other Pakistani leaders to discuss the Kerry-Lugar Bill. The sources said a team of US high-ups was accompanying the US senator and they would take stock of the proposed projects in Pakistan in connection with the US aid.
